The Fiddlers of Falling Waters

Bryan McDowell

Fiddler, mandolinist, guitarist, and vocalist Bryan McDowell is predictable only in his consistent excellence. Prior accolades worth mentioning are his triple win - a sweep of the fiddle, mandolin, and guitar categories - at the National Flatpicking Championship in 2009.

Dylan Foley

Dylan Foley, A 4-time All-Ireland Fiddle Champion, Dylan was a student of the great Rose Flanagan and counts Joanie Madden, Brian Conway, Mike McHale, and Monsignor Charlie Coen among his primary influences. He is a vibrant stylist whose playing has been called “impeccable and spirited.”

Judy Hyman

For decades Judy has taught at music camps throughout the U.S.; she is honored to be returning to Falling Waters. With roots in classical violin, Appalachian fiddle music, and modern rock, Judy is a founding member of alt-trad band, The Horse Flies, who have toured extensively throughout North America and Europe and recorded many albums.

Rosie Newton

Rosie Newton grew up immersed in the rich folk music scene of Woodstock, NY, and began playing the fiddle when she was eight. Newton attended college in Ithaca, NY, where she studied Viola Performance. While in Ithaca, she found herself swept up by the area’s music scene, which infused her with a deep appreciation for the beauty and diversity of roots music.

Quinn Bachand

With diverse musical talents and a bottomless pool of creativity, Quinn Bachand is recognized as the "Young Lion" of the Celtic guitar (Daniel Lapp) and "Canada's top Celtic guitarist" (Ashley MacIsaac). As a proficient multi-instrumentalist, he is equally at ease playing Irish tenor banjo, claw hammer banjo, bouzouki, bodhran and fiddle. Quinn is also a classically trained violinist and has taught privately and at workshops, music camps and festivals throughout Canada and the U.S

Tim Ball

Tim Ball has been a staple of the contradance and Irish music scenes in western New York for the better part of a decade. An exceptionally versatile musician and relentless collaborator, he is currently performing throughout the Northeast with his Celtic trio Arise & Go, contra dance bands Tempest and Center Street, and Ithaca’s Irish session band Traonach.

Rick Manning

Camp organizer Rick Manning is a fine bluegrass, swing and contradance fiddler and mandolinist (if he does say so himself!).  He has recorded five CD's, three in Nashville with Cornerstone and two more recently in Ithaca with the Falling Waters Trio (Grietzer Hodgson Manning).  He is also the proud winner of the All Ithaca Fiddle Championship in the Texas Swing Performed by an Adult Yankee with a Day Job category.
