And best of all it is a 1 minute walk to the Community School of Music & Art, where most of the workshops and concerts will be held. Workshops and camp concerts will be held next door to the Canopy at the Community School of Music & Arts (CSMA).  We love our Community School and are delighted to support this important institution for hosting our event. CSMA will host most of our workshops and 2 or our 3 of camp concerts. There are many practice rooms available on a first come-first serve basis.

Ithaca was recently named America’s Best Town to Visit in 2025 by CNN! Ithaca is “gorges” in any season, and while summer is an especially great time to experience rushing waterfalls, in early January we are the center of the traditional music universe.

WVMC 2025 campers enjoyed the Canopy, CSMA and loved being just a short walk to the Ithaca Commons and Restaurant Row, with many of Ithaca’s finest restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Whether you’re staying in a hotel or a charming inn, the greater Ithaca area will welcome you with top-notch hospitality and lodging options.

  • PLANE
    Approx. 1.5 hour flight

    Route:

    • Fly direct from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Ithaca Tompkins International Airport (ITH)

    CAR

    Approx. 4.5 to 5 hours

    Route:

    • Take I-80 W to I-380 N

    • Merge onto I-81 N toward Binghamton

    • Exit onto NY-79 W to Ithaca

    BUS

    Approx. 3.75 to 6 hours

    Options: OurBus (fastest option is 3 hours and 45 minutes from the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal). Other options include Greyhoundand FlixBus.

    • Departure: Port Authority, Midtown Manhattan, or George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal.

    • Arrival: Downtown Ithaca

    • From bus stop to camp:

    • Fly direct from Dulles International Airport (IAD) to Ithaca Tompkins International Airport (ITH)

    From airport to campus:

    • ITH Airport is approx. 20 minutes from Hammerstone. Uber, Lyft, local taxis, and rental cars available.

      • TCAT Bus: TCAT offers regular bus service from the airport to downtown Ithaca. Routes 32 and 72 provide direct service to the Commons. 

      • Our downtown location is a 7-10 min walk from the Ithaca Commons

    CAR
    Approx. 6 to 7 hours This is a very scenic drive!

    Route:

    • Take I-270 N to I-70 W

    • Merge onto I-76 W (Pennsylvania Turnpike)

    • Take I-81 N toward Binghamton

    • Exit onto NY-79 W to Ithaca

    BUS
    Approx. 8 to 10 hours (with transfers).

    Options: Greyhound, FlixBus, OurBus (transfer in NYC or Binghamton typically required)

    Departure: Union Station (D.C.) or area transit hubs
