With acclaimed albums Warm Prickly and Swatting the Flies, he’s earned praise for his breezy, heartfelt blend of country folk and old-time music. Benny’s distinctive clawhammer banjo style draws inspiration from players like Reed Martin and Richie Stearns, combining deep groove with playful rhythm. A beloved teacher known for his accessible, joyful approach, Benny has guided many students into the world of old-time banjo through private lessons, backyard banjo camps, and time on faculty at Rochester’s Hochstein School of Music and Dance.
