Cap Cooke

Cap Cooke was born and raised in western New York, where he began picking the banjo at age 13 after hearing a John Hartford record. He moved to the Finger Lakes region in 2013, and has been absorbing the rich musical traditions of the area ever since. He’s performed solo and in numerous regional groups including The Mount Pleasant String Band, The Flywheels, Farm Animal, and The June Bugs. Most recently, he picked the banjo on Jake Blount’s 2026 release “Single-Footing Horse.” He is a baker by day (Wide Awake Bakery) and resides in Ulysses with his wife, Cady and their son Hartford.
