Hank Roberts

Hank Roberts is a pioneering cellist, vocalist, and composer whose nearly five-decade career has established him as a major innovator, blending jazz, abstract improvisation, soulful folk melodies, and new-music composition. A key figure in New York’s legendary 1980s Downtown music scene alongside collaborators like Marc Ribot and John Zorn, he has been a long-time regular touring and recording partner of guitarist Bill Frisell, featured on Frisell's Grammy-winning album Unspeakable. With over ten albums as a leader on the Winter & Winter label and a German Recording Critics’ Award to his name, Hank brings an unmatched depth of creativity, genre-defying technique, and musical wisdom to every performance and workshop.
