Kevin Wimmer
Rooted in classical technique and steeped in the rich traditions of Cajun and Creole fiddle music, Kevin brings a deep and soulful understanding of folk traditions to his teaching and playing. After early violin training with his mother, renowned pedagogue Shirley Givens, Kevin found his true musical passion in Southwest Louisiana, learning directly from legendary musicians like Dewey Balfa and Canray Fontenot. He’s performed with beloved bands including Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, Balfa Toujours, and the Red Stick Ramblers, and has taught at top roots music camps across the country.
