Bobby Henrie is a Finger Lakes gem, an exceptional guitarist and musician spanning a wide range of styles - bluegrass, rockabilly, jazz, gypsy swing and old time. Bobby performs with Bobby Henrie and the Goners, the Djangoners, the Henrie Brothers, Paris Texas, and a duo with Aaron Lipp. He recently released Doc Remembrances, a tribute to one of his musical heros Doc Watson. Bobby is not only a fine guitarist but also an accomplished old time fiddler, banjo player and mandolinist.
Bobby will be teaching a couple of workshops on bluegrass, flatpack guitar with Aaron Lipp and Gypsy Swing Guitar with Quinn Bachand.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS
Special Session: Lead Ideas with Aaron Lipp (Intermediate): Bobby and Aaron will demonstrate the relationship between two guitars in flatpicking bluegrass guitar music. If you are new to flatpicking and lead playing, they recommend you become at least an advanced rhythm player first before diving into lead playing. They will discuss and show how two guitars trade off on rhythm and lead seamlessly while playing off each other’s nuances. Other topics to be included are: Crosspicking technique, Down/Up picking technique, speed exercises, posture, picks, choice of guitar, influences.
Gypsy Jazz Guitar Duo Workshop and Casual Concert with Quinn Bachand (All Levels): Two amazing guitarists with a passion for the music of Django Reinhardt with perform and demonstrate their respective approaches to playing Gypsy Jazz guitar.
